Correct Cabling Type?

what cabling is wisest to use when connecting computer peripheral recording equipment?

ok sorry forgive my vagueness, just curious to know the best quality connection from my mackie mixer (vlz 1604) into my soundcard (delta 66) and out into my fostex r8 reel to reel machine.

its proving difficult for me to set all running smoothly together without changing looms constantly. any ideas?
 
If your mixer has balanced outs (which I believe it does) u want TRS to TRS or XLR to TRS, depending on which outs you want to use on the mixer
