Having recently moved, upon removing my wrapped 4" rigid f/g from the corner was horrified to find a nearly BLACK wall where moisture was trapped and mildew grew.

I'm now in a basement with "finished" walls. At the base of the wall is a "trough" which hydrostatic pressure is relieved and is angled down towards the sump pump.

Since this "trough" is a source of moisture, if I seal my panels in the corner again, am I going to be creating the same opportunity for growth of mildew and yuck?

I am employing a dehumidifier, and have been able to maintain >60%, usually around 55% relative humidity.

So whaddaya think?

I'm no expert in this area but i did a search and found this http://www.epa.gov/iaq/largebldgs/graphics/appenc.pdf
Mold and mildew are a problem which can cause a lot more damage than just what you can see, not to mention it can be a sugnificant health risk. I hope the link gives you some useful info on getting rid of and preventing the problem from reocurring.

Thanks Dani. Good read.
Sorry for the delay in response, I don't have a connection at my new home yet.

Seems electrical efficiency and mold/mildew inhibition are at odds.

I guess it can't be known what kind of environment would be created behind the rigid f/g, especially when wrapped in plastic.
No wonder fabric is recommended   :D

So air circulation, proper heating/cooling difusion as to not allow cold spots (or increasing heat if comfort is no issue), seepage control and dehumidification are the "fixes".

I think once it is out of the plastic mildew won't be as much of a problem.
