Hey everyone!!

so this is my latest song that i've written and recorded. i wanted to use some effects on the voice and acoustic guitars this time.

i was shooting for a "distance" kinda effect with loooads of reveb on the chorus part ("When it all starts to change..") and added a little echo at the end of the chorus. the distance effect didn't work too well...it just sounds like my voice with a whooole bunch of reverb on it anyone know how i could get this effect?? i was looking for something like at the start of Gomez - Tijuana Lady, where the voice sounds like the singer was a million miles away from the mic.

i also put a little flanger effect on the one of the guitars during the middle instrumental part.

both acoustic guitars and vocals are by me, and the music and lyrics are mine as well..

Guitar performance sounds solid, what kind of guitar is that?

This might sound as untechnical as it gets but you want to physically move away fom the mic, I've done that before to try and get that effect on a vocal.

Its a friend's Martin, don't know the model. i do kno that i wasn't that expensive, but it sounds like a beauty. the only problem i found was the action was too low - you can hear the bottom E(which was dropped do a D) rattle against the fretboard

Yes, that guitar shouldn't be downtuned, action too low. Sounds mighty fine though. Guitar work reminds me a little of Led Zep III.
Vocal is rather good. I didn't even mind the echo effects, seemed to work well in this instance.

When more guitar trax are introduced they come in too hot and feel intrusive. Needs further refinement in the mixing process.
You need to ease in those new guitar trax so they are not a shock to the ears.

Over 5 minutes is probably a bit too long for this song, IMO.

i'll keep in mind what you said about remixing it..however i feel i'm gonna hafta rerecord this anyways, or at least the middle instrumental part, as it is too long - there is not enough stuff happening. actually, i might add a little bit of percussion in there - like some shakers, i dno, anything. it just feels like there an extra level of stuff that needs to be added on.
