Hey. What is the coolest looking mic?

Coolest looking mics

The RCA 77 series for ribbon mics.
It's the universally recognized shape, followed of course by the 44 series.
Condensor/Vintage: Neumann u47
Dynamic: Shure SM5

Remember, with most people, bigger is better when it comes to microphones, at least in appearance.
I don't know how many radio jocks have told me that a mic can't sound good because it's so small!
That's why they like big mics, such as the RE20 and Neumann large diaphram condensors.
That, of course, can be BS.
A lot of very small microphones sound very good but they just don't look impressive enough.

I've gotta vote B.L.U.E., as well - I think I ended up getting interested in the baby bottle just by looks alone.

Which, of course, is a LOUSY reason to buy a microphone, but...

. . . but you could just get one because one guy recommended it and now everyone else says you should get it. Which is an even worse reason. :D
 
theres a certain avant-garde artty look about those bottles and such, but there is something that just says, 'belt your guts out cryin in yer beer vocaltrack' about a telefunken elam-251....its so...industrial...and you KNOW it kiks ass.....also those manley reference mics are cool....sennheiser 441's are still very 'space age'.....
 
What are those mics that are thin and shaped like a circle. This is a real newbie question! I can't believe it, my brain must not be functioning correctly....


Don't worry. That's not a matter for concern. "It" usually acts up like this.

I think the big CAD VX2 dual tube microphone is pretty cool. It looks like some kind of nuclear device ... name sounds like one, too.
 
Voting on looks alone I would say BLUE has the most visually interesting mics.

There is no dynamic cooler looking than the B.L.U.E Ball. What a cool mic.
