Ok, I'm gonna take flak for recommending this but here goes.

I was at the local music shop Friday and heard a ULTRABASS BX300 from Behringer. This is a small bass amp that has just been released and they were A/Bing it with Fender, Line6, Ampeg, Peavey and a host of other under $500 bass amps. This thing absolutely kicked butt. There were 3-4 bass players standing around and myself. One of these guys was a session player here in LA. None of us could believe the quality, tone and punch of this thing. The price - $129. The session guy bought one on the spot. I came back today and the other 2 were sold.

This is the ultimate small studio rig and I would go so far as to say this is the RNC or C1 mic equivalent for studio bass amps. Go hear one of these things it is truely amazing.

I have always liked bang for your buck. It probably beats the sh*t out of my SWR workingman's 12. I'll be sure to check it out!

no way a behringer will outperform a workingman 12... I know fender sounds like cardboard.. line6 ??? do they make bass amps now ??? i don't know the small ampegs but I'm sure the peavey (no matter what size) won't sound good.
Maybe it'll sound better than those, but not like a WM12.
I guess the Berry is like the small Roland combo: sounds good if you listen to it, but compresses the moment you pop a note on it.. these things have no dynamic headroom at all, they just compress every note you play.

sorry for the rant.. I promise you I'll check it out later this week, I've seen them around, but haven't bothered trying them out.

clifchamb: hold on to that WM12, to me it's a bomb. sounds good on electric as well as upright, and holds quite well in smaller club gigs.

You bet I will hold on to it! I guess if I want to buy another combo or I was shopping for a starter amp I think for the price maybe the behringer will be a better buy rather than spend 450.00 to 550.00 for a SWR combo amp ( I won my SWR so it kind of a prize I don't want to give up:)

But this amp, it'll blow any of those tiny amps away.

You should buy my Eden 400 watt bass amp. It and all of it's details are in the equipment for sale section. And by the way Line 6 doesn't make bass amps. Later

Is your Eden $99?

Yeah, sorry about the Line 6 comment. It was sitting next to the other bass amps so I assumed they had tested it too. I came in late to the conversation when they were all oohing and aahing the Behringer.
