Coast Recording in Hollywood is a giant studio surplus dealer,...
with countless Ampex and MCI large format pro decks,... all of which were surplussed from actual working Hollywood studios, and all of which are in an unkempt state of dirty, worn out disrepair, on par with the picture of the "Ampex-style console" in the above auction. In fact, that "Ampex-style console" is a real gem, compared to the rest of the junked-out stuff there.
In other words, it's like MCIx0x0's dream-dumpster dive, x 100.

But, yeah, you must be crazy buying it if you do not live within' 20 mile or so and/or do not have ThuleRack on top of your honda civic or your beetle
After spending the day on cleaning it and feeding with appropriate gear it may be turned into something like THIS ... I'm actually posting this item to take a look and see what "very clean condition Ampex style studio" may actually mean / look like
