cool edit reverb/echo/delay....

is it any different if i was to use a hardware to apply real time echo/delay than using cool edit to do it? for some reason my crappy mixer with intergraded echo made it sound better than if i were to record with no effect and uses cool edit to apply the echo, it just doesn't sound natural that way... maybe i'm doing it wrong, but is it possible that hardware effects are better than software?

Every reverb/echo sounds different. While the CEP reverbs have a lot of options, I usually run the Waves reverbs...that is, when I use 'em at all, since I have a pretty live room to record in.
