G'day. I have an old music cd and when I put it on my mp3 player it's very quiet. I have put all the tracks into Cool Edit Pro and used the 'Amplitude' section to amplify them. All went well. Then I mixed down each track. All good. However when I save the mixdown to 'My Music' as an mp3 there is no sound when I play them. Any suggestions? Peter

I'm not sure why you're trying to do a mixdown here.

Cool Edit operates in 2 modes: wave editor and multitrack. A mixdown is the process of taking what you have on the multitrack side and making a stereo file out of the mix so you can play it on other devices. So if you opened a wave file in the editor and amplified it there wouldn't be anything on the multitrack side to mix down.

By default when you open a wave file it should go straight into the editor. From there you can amplify it and select "save as". It should give you a dialog with the available formats for saving the amplified file.
