I have cool edit pro 2.0, all i do is plug the mic into my computr and record vocals as the song is playing but it sounds to "in ya face" my voice doesnt sound like its with the music. can any1 help plz

Here's two that may or may not work

-Turn down the vocals...most beginning engineers don't realize the vocals are wayyyy to loud. Listen to anyone of the CDs or mp3s you own and compare.

-Try recording your voice at different distances from your mic. If you have a cheap computer mic then you may have to stand wayyyyy back or sing softer. Cheap mics are what they are...cheap. If you try and belt out a verse right up next to a cheap computer mic it'll just sound "in ya face".

Having a cheap mic wont help but I doubt thats your main problem. A better mic usually means a more detailed sound.

Your problem with in your face sounds like either the vocal is too loud, or your not using enough reverb or the wrong type. Reverb will help the vocal blend in and sound more natural with the rest of the music.

Do you have a pop filter? Mic stand?

Very Clutch inn recording a clean signal...regardless of mic..

You can make a pop-filter, and get a cheap micstand from Radio shack for like 20$....

Now wat

Thanks for the other info, know i want to know what reverb is and how to use it. thanks
