Cool Edit Pro shuts down when saving

I've been using cool edit pro 1.2 for some time, but as of yesterday, the program has started to crash every time I try to save something... displaying the message ("To Continue working where you left off, just restart Cool Edit Pro")

In response, I've tried to restart.... I've cleared out the temp files.... and I've even uninstalled the program and reinstalled it into a different directory with different temp folder designations. Nothing works.

Has anybody dealt with this before???

Does it crash whether you're saving a small session or a big one?
 
any size seems to be a problem

The problem occurs with both large and small .wav files.

The average size of the files I deal with range from 10 mb to 17 mb in size and run from 10-20 minutes in playing time.

(Usually, I'm just opening up files, clipping a few minutes off the front and back, and re-saving them to a new file name.)
 
*Very* strange. I haven't heard that one before, either.

Does this only affect wave files - can you save (by way of experiment) in other formats?

Have you tried a full virus check lately?
