Cool Edit Help!!! PLEASE!!!!!!! URGENT

hey i recently downloaded cool edit pro 2 just to do some easy home recording with my mic and an amp. when i open up my program, i use a tablature program (guitar pro) as a metronome/something to follow i guess. the sound from the guitar pro bleeds into the recording and i get a recording of not only my guitar from the microphone, but the guitar pro file as if i were recording that too. I JUST WANT TO RECORD MY GUITAR THROUGH THE MIC AND LISTEN TO THE GUITAR PRO THROUGH MY HEADPHONES...WHY ISNT THIS EASY?!?!?!

open up ur sound options, select recording, im guessing 'what u hear' is ticked, change that to 'mic' or input1 or whatever

Well I'm sorry - Strungout666 didn't say it was the Demo version.

A fully functional version of Cool Edit Pro has never been free - it was CoolEdit2000 that was - partly functional shareware stereo editor that unlocked when you paid for a serial.

If you follow those links it looks like you can't pay to unlock this Cool Edit Pro 2.1 demo anymore, the only way is to buy Adobe Audition 1.5. You can't get the upgrade price unless you actually own that version of Cool Edit Pro, not from a demo.

Anyhow...

Can't remember if Cool Edit Pro has Auditions shortcut to the "Windows Recording Mixer" in the menus, but I think mick8569 gave the right answer. It's probably set on "What U Hear" if a Soundblaster or "Stereo Mix" if it's an ordinary built in AC97 soundchip. You should switch it to microphone in. The Playback mixer supplies what you will hear in the headphones.
