I don't use Compression really in my songs, And when i do its with cool edit but it songs crappy sometimes, i was wonderin if any other programs like cakewalk, cubase, sonar, etc. have better effects, like compression or should i buy a compressor???

I use both Cool Edit/Audition and Sonar. If I need a compressor in either of those guys its usually a Voxengo VST (Crunchessor, Polysquasher, SOniformer2) or Sonitus DX compressor that comes in Sonar Producer (can also purchase seperately I think from Cakewalk).

The dynamics processor in Cool Edit doesn't like me very much... :D

You don't really use compression? Why the hell not? Compression is the single most important element to getting a professional sounding MIX next to setting the levels right and getting a good recording?

Cool Edit Pro's compressor *SUCKS* by the way. It is easily one of the worst sounding, least user friendly of all the software compressors I've seen. Get a basic Waves package, TC Powercore or UAD-1 and you'll be surprised at the difference it will make.

Also, learn how to use the compressor better. They are tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be addicted.

Ok

Well, i can tell cool dit sucks thats why i put this message up, haha. BUT i also know i need compression, thats why i asked this question too. I have a voicemaster pro and if u already know it has a compressor on it, and i use it, but i feel i need to add more when i am editing on the computer, thanks 4 the advice, Ill have to try that when i get alittle doe in my pocket, but are they like soundcards or somethin.
