I just downloaded Cool Edit 2.1 it is an upgrade for all us legal users.. Dunno what new yet except for the intro song....

I see we have the ability to move tracks now without loosing their settings!

Scott, here is something new on CEP2.1, Usually I can't open a wave in CEP2.0 from SONAR or CAKEWALK Home Studio, but now I can ........WOW! (I was using my old Cool Edit 2000 just for this so far) Anything else new?

Jeyan,

I've not had any problems opening waves created in Sonar, or Guitar Tracks Pro either. I did have to figure out that after opening one, and inserting it into the multi-track view, I had to change the format to save the file in IF I wanted to start a CEP project using that wave file, CEP would save it fine as cakewalk saved it, but it would take way too long to open the CEP project that way, If I save it in CEP using CEP's default wave format my CEP projects open in seconds rather than minutes.

I think I may have found a bug in CEP, I'm not sure if it happened before I downloaded the 2.1 patch though..

What happens is, when I mute one track, with the track EQ open, and selected for a totally different track, the sliders for where the EQ points are do not function, as a matter of fact, if I try to adjust an EQ point, the slider drops to "0" and gets stuck there...

Thanx Strryder, Hope I was the only one who had that problem :( anyway it is fixed now and I ma glad they put the new 2.1 upgrade on time.

Among other things, I really wish that they would use a slider or a knob for the wet/dry output bus effect send, HELL, I wish they would set it up with at least 4 "real" aux sends..

If they got it just a little more together on the mixing end, (channel meters-channel based assignable aux sends-etc.), and had ASIO driver support, they would be even more of a serious contender for the "everything you need in one package" recording solution.

Hell, I wis CEP was a TRUE mixing console.
but instead we got this FAB sample editor!!!

(oh well, nuendo is a cool mixing console for me)

I can't get CEP to do a repeat performance of that bug with the track EQ/mute thing....

If it never happens again, I won't miss it at all !!

:D

I just checked the link and it says CEP2.1 can handle 5.1 surround mix. Any one tried that?

They also say that it can use some control surfaces, such as Mackie control and EZBus. Hmmmmmmm :)

"I'm very annoyed that its not a smallish patch file - looks like the whole program install."

Hmmm... It seems to me that Syntrillium haven't had time to do *that* much work on the program since they released it - I mean, remember how long it took to come out in the first place?

I wonder if a complete program install is required for the upgrade because they had to rewrite the whole program at a deep level to get it to do the things they wanted it to do?

Hopefully the reason they don't have time to do many upgrades to 2.0 is because they are working on 3.0!

hopefully with ASIO so my stupid firestation will work with IT!!!!!

I hope their noise reduction works better like the doc says.
