Right now I am recording Midi then exporting the file as a wave and then converting it to an MP3 and then Importing it back.

I know there has to be a better way.

Thanks,

MIDI won't export as a wave unless you are using a software synthesizer (DXi or VSTi). Since from your comment it appears to be working for you, I'll assume you are using a software synth... in which case, all you really need to do is highlight the midi track and the DXi track, then go to Edit > Bounce to Track.

From the popup menu you will have the choice to mix down to a stereo track or a mono track.

Personally, when I am using a DXi, I simply leave it as MIDI, since it will be incorporated in the final export anyway. However, there may be some reason you need it as audio.

Thanks for the info....

I am using the DXI because that is the only way I can get the latency to play in real time. When I use outside sources (VST 3.23 or Creative Soundfont) I cannot get the latency to match up. Should I be using the DXI?

The reason I was converting it to Audio was so that I can do a Groove Clip.

any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

If you have Sonar 3 or better you can make midi groove clips.

Mp3 should have nothing to do with anything. Why dont you just reimport the wave??????:confused::confused:

If you have a sluggish computer, exporting a softsynth can save resources. It can also be easier to work with if you are more familiar with that way of working. For me, bouncing in Sonar has alway been hit or miss, half the time it doesnt work or just sounds odd.

Should I be using the DXI?

If it sounds good.:D

Sonar 3 and up has a vst wrapper function, maybe that is your problem. You can always check your buffer settings and adjust for latency.
