Im tring to convert an mp3 to wav, and then import it into my dp008. I understand it needs to be 44.1khz,16 bit, mono, and I understand how to copy files from my desktop to the WAVE folder on my dp008 via hooking it up to my desktop.
However, even though I can see the file is in the WAVE folder when looking at my computer, when I try to import it on my dp008 it doesn't even show an option to import. It shows all my other wav files, but not this one.
I have used audacity, iTunes, switch etc to convert the file, but I cannot get this process to work. I am obviously doing something wrong. Can someone walk me through this process? Or suggest some details that I may be overlooking?
Thank you,
Jeremy

Smokebreak,
I use a Mac, but the process should be the same.

On the Tascam, choose the song you want to import the .wav(s) into. Now hook up the USB cable. The Tascam will store the song and open the connection to your computer. On the Mac, I double click the DP-008 icon. There should be 3 folders. Back up, utility & wave.
Drag the 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, mono or stereo file from the computer to the wave folder. I e-ject the DP-008 from the Mac to break the connection. When the USB cable is removed from the Tascam, it restarts and opens the song. Hit 'Menu' on the Tascam, jog to 'Import/export', arrow right to 'Import Track'. Choose the file you want to import, then hit next. If it's a mono file, Tascam asks which track to import to, if it's a stereo file, Tascam asks which stereo pair of tracks to import to. Hit 'Exec'. It imports your file(s) and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps.

Are you absolutely 100% positive it's a wav file that you've ended up with?

Load your mp3 file into Audacity. Under file, choose Export. In the dialog box, name it, tell it where to store it and tell it which format to export as. Choose wav 16 bit PCM or maybe it's listed as wav (microsoft). That should give you a usable wav file.
