Converting an MX70 from 16 track to 8 track

Pain in the ass
I just installed 1 inch 8 track heads on one of my mx70s and removed cards 9 - 16. Is that all I have to do to covert it (other than alignment and calibration)? No problems with the power supply running less with the same amount of power, etc?
