Convert .all file to MIDI w/o using Cubase?

Hi, I found what looks like a Cubase file (.all) in one of my project directories. I don't use Cubase anymore, and would like to somehow extract the MIDI data from that file so that I can fix it up using Sonar.

Is there a way to extract the MIDI data from the .all file, either using a converter or by editing the binary by hand?

.all files contain alot more than just the midi information. Everything you ever did, and that is currently done to the project is stored in the .all file. There's no way to extract just the midi information from the file.

So I guess at this point I need to either:

1) install a Cubase demo
-- can the demos these days load .all files and export MIDI?

2) ask someone with Cubase to convert it for me
-- but I hate asking people to spend their time on my problems!

Just keep a Cubase demo on your comp would be the best idea if you ask me. It really is a handy program even for small things. I use it to study keyboard aswell (importing a song on audio track 1, VSTi on midi track 1 and there ya go).

The latest Cubase demo has MIDI/audio export disabled.

So, unless I buy Cubase (just for this one song???), is there any other way I can extract the MIDI myself, or do I need to beg someone to do it for me?

Hi, a nice guy ended up extracting the MIDI data for me.

The song ended up being an early version of one I'd already finished back in 2003, just under a different name.

Well, at least "Scentless" is (IMO) a nicer title than "Reggae Test", so I went ahead and renamed the finished song. Small net gain, but at least it doesn't feel like that time was wasted!
