Ok so as stated in my other posts I use a J-Station to record and there are certain things I dont like about it...not being able play with feed back is a huge issue. So what should I do now? Would investing in a small tube amp (or any small amp), an MBOX (with mic preamps allready in it) and a Shure 57 or 58 mic be best? Would I be able to get great tones distorted tones (huge sounds like Satch's "War") with this set up or will I be horribly dissapointed by them? And since this is a newbie section i guess Ill ask...say I got a 30-50 watt amp, would I be able to get great tones out of this thing or do I need a head and cab (never really understood what those did except look big...i know im a sped)..if I need a head or cab I cant do that since I dont have much sound proofing being a 17 y/o and all! So what do you guys think, small amp and mics and use plug ins for compression and eq and stuff, or should I scrap that idea and try something like a Tech 21 amp with a direct out (can that play with feed back???). Thank you guys for helping newbies everywhere!

So your saying that you cant find the sound your looking for with the j-station ? Do you use the software rack gear, or download any user presets from the various sites ? I have used the j-station as well and could always dial in the sound I was looking for or find a preset online that worked.
Its really designed as an Amp-cab simulator and does a good job of it.
