Great White North Girl
the tascam 2488 records in either 16 or 24 bit. does anyone know if it can be used to convert tracks from 16 to 24 bit? and if not, does anyone know of a way to do that cheap?

the thing is, i'm getting a 2488 sometime in the near future and i want to send my dp01 fx to my sister so she can record vocal tracks for me. but they'll be in 16 bit because that's all the dp01 fx records in. i don't want to have to record in 16 bit with the 2488 to be able to use her tracks. so i need to find a way to convert 16 bit tracks to 24 bit.

help?

You can bring the 16 bit tracks into a 24 bit project. All that happens is the advantages of the wider bit system will be gained (and added on) in any further processing you do to the 16 bit tracks. At that point they would be 24 bit.
Keep it clean and well gain staged (as always :D) it should be fine.
