Hi Everyone,
I've been using the Tascam 428 for about 4 years and have recently switched from Cubase to Sonar 4...

I am looking for some sort of documentation or a list of commands for controlling Sonar with the Tascam. I know it exists somewhere because I saw it once and now (of course) I can't find it! At the time I didn't think to bookmark the link or print it (D'OH).

Can anyone help? Please please please?

Dave

ohhh under tools there's something that says tascam 428 where you can set the f1 f2 f3 to whatever you like, very helpful to me. everything else has always seemed easier with a mouse click to me, except the transport stuff, but there's the options for that right in that same menu.

I bought my tascam 428 used, never used it much as a controller, more just for the 4 ins... latency seems too high anyways. what's your main thing that you use it to control?

Hey Wesley,
Thanks for the reply. I know about the F1, F2, and F3 buttons and they do help for some things. I mainly use the Tascam 428 for its 4 in's as well and I use it to control Sonar (or Cubase, whichever I am working in).

I know there are additional controls beyond basic trasnport and fader controls for SONAR but I can't find any documentation... For example:
To go to the beginning of a song in Sonar: press "Set + Rew"
In Cubase you would just hit the "<< Locate" button (above the Rew button)

There are other commands I can't figure out. In particular the EQ commands.

As far as latency, I have really had any issues. I was having an issue where audio was skipping but I solved that. It was a USB issue and I resolved it by adding a dedicated USB PCI card and using it only for the 428. Using it with the motherboards USB ports always gave me skips.

Anyway thanks for the post. Anyone else??? :)
Dave

I know when I've used EQ before, like the FXeq, there are presets for us-428 that will operate as the controller once you have them selected. I always used the jog wheel or the keyboard to get around, on the keyboard w brings you back to the beginning, and the whole cheat sheet is right under the help menu somewhere.
