I was going to play at a small party at a friends house last night but her parents wouldn't of appreciated all the noise so we (some friends and myself) couldn't. So it got me thinking what the heck I was to do vocals. When I'm at home, my mixer runs into a receiver, which is hooked up to speakers. My speakers are connected to the receiver with those annoying wires you twist at the end and insert into a slot. They are not really a live speaker...just my recording speakers.

Well I wouldn't want to drag a receiver to a house to hook everything up. I could just run cords from my mixer to each speaker. Well I don't have the money to go buy speakers for that. I know this sounds ridiculous and I should buy some proper speakers, but I'm wondering if there is some sort of adaptor that would take those wires you twist and covert it to wire, instead of having to drag a receiver.

Then again her dad runs the whole sound system at our church, so I don't know what he has there if we ever do play there. Like I said, sounds silly, but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Certainly there are various jacks that you can clamp on or solder on to convert the wires to a jack (almost any Radio Shack will have whatever jacks you would need).

However, amps (such as your receiver) and speakers are rated for certain power compatibility. ou can cause damages to an amp or to speakers if you don't match the power correctly.

Oh yeah, soldering! Good point, I have stuff to solder in my house, but no one in my family knows how to work it. I know they need certain power whatever, but...well let's just say I hope I wouldn't kill it.
