Ahh humma humma humma
Hi all...

I'm sure its been asked a million times, but in searching the board I didn't find any definite answers. I am wanting to know what audio card I should buy in order to dump my adat tracks to and from the computer. I would like to be able to put the tracks into Wavelab or Soundforge, so the ADAT EDIT card is probably not a good choice.

What does anyone think of the Frontier Dakota?

I want a card that will sync to the BRC so that I can transfer tracks in... clean them up... and send them back to the ADATs.

Thanks for the input.

I use a MOTU 2408mkII to move my ADATs in and out of the computer. I also use a Lucid GenX6 to clock the BRC, the MOTU and all my other digital goodies together. Mikey likes it.:D

I have The Dakota and it's been working great. No glitches or problems whatever. It has adat sync input, but be warned, that your _program/system_ has to provide what is needed to sync-and most don't. (cake pa-8 doesn't) One poster said he couldn't get sample accurate even with an app that was suposed to. (Don't remember- Cool edit?) Do some searches.
In my work, this, I learned was not an issue, as once I had the tracks in Cake, there was no reason to go back to tape. (I light -piped back to the adats as D/As only, or sent _all_ the tracks back and forth, and screw the sync:)
Otherwise the adat-sync is good down to about +/- 10 to 50 ms-ish' (basically, it's midi-sync), but will be different every time you do it- so you can't even compensate for it like the good Mr. Nichols recomended.
Hope that helps.

ps: I HATE the sound of tape crunching
