Connecting speakers to PC

Hi all

I have very crappy little ball-like speakers attched to my PC and as I'm starting to use my computer for serious recording I reckon it's time to have the sound coming through proper speakers for monitoring.

Can anyone give me any advice about how what kind of speakers to use, and how best to connect them to the PC? Correct specifications, i.e. resitance etc.?

If you are just looking for decent, inexpensive speakers designed for a pc, many stores and online retailers sell these, and they should just plug in the same as the old ones. If you are looking for better speakers than this, someone with more experience can suggest what is best.

I have a decent 5.1 system on my pc, and it has some Logitech speakers that sound good for a pc, but to listen and hear the best, I put it on cd and use my home stereo.
