Connecting Preamp to Internal Soundcard?!

I think I've decided to have a custom computer made.. and an option for soundcards is the SoundBlaster Audigy II... will there be a way for me to connect a preamp to an internal card?? I'm in the process of purchasing my first small home setup now (on a tight budget) so I don't know too much about it..

have your computer built WITHOUT a soundcard and put in something like an M-Audio 24/96

The Audigy is NOT a recording specific card, it has a very high noise floor and is the LAST thing you want to record through. Trust me, just do a search for audigy on here and see what it churns up.
