connecting my fender lx-1506 powered mixer to my computer

i need to connect my fender lx-1506 powered mixer to my computer. should i just buy a cord with one side 1/4 inch and the other 1/8 inch and connect the main output to the line in on my sound card? i dont have a lot of money to spend and i dont have the red and white things except for the tape inputs i think.

I had a look at the mixer and you can use mon out or main out on the front panel 1/4 inch one end and 1/8 inch the other end, connect to the line in on your sound card hope that helps out.
