Toshiba Satellite to a Roland VS1680
I've created a drum track for my song, Ive got my guitar, and vocals all plugged into my Roland VS1680. Im ready to record a tune! But how do i connect the laptop to the Roland so I can record my drum track???

How do I do it? I've not got a joystick type connector so I can't use a midi to PC cable.

Anyone any ideas.

Ok, I am VERY new to this, but had the same questions out here last week. I also have a toshiba laptop, and am connecting to a BOSS BR1600CD....so similar to your situation. I assume you have MIDI sequencing software on the laptop? What I did, is bought an M-Audio MIDI/USB interface ($44 at Guitar Center). It has a USB connection on one end, and one MIDI IN, one MIDI out on the other. So...not sure where your 'sounds' are coming from (the computer?, a sound module?) but basically you connect the MIDI out of the recorder, to the MIDI in of the interface cable, and of course the USB end to the laptop. Set up your midi timing stuff on both sides so the recorder and pc are in 'synch'. When I do this, I can hit the record/play on the BOSS and it starts the sequence on the PC as well. If there is a sound module in between, I guess the midi out from the recorder would go to the midi in of the pc, the midi out of the pc to the sound module, the audio out from the module to your monitoring system. Works great. Hope this helps.
