If I connect my Peavey amp headphone socket to my omni input, it sounds terrible. Do I need some sort of D/I box to boost the signal? I would have thought the omni pre-amp on inputs 1 & 2 would be good enough?
The headphone out is (normally on cheaper amps) connected directly to the amp and bypassing the cabinet. Don't use the headphone out. Either mic the amp (my Fender Pro-Reverb sounds great using a Shure 57) or get yourself a amp-simulator (I'm happy with V-Amp 2), that's my advice.
Yep, the peavey rocks okay but as I'm an older and more considerate old git than I used to be (news to me..<pauls wife>), I was hoping for a good way of emulating a line out from the amp (which I havent got).
