I have a Motu 896 and a Alesis 5.1 pro active montoring speaker system. How can I connect them digitally.
The Alesis accepts 3 types of connections . 1 Mini jack anolog 2. S/P dif ( 2channel not Adat Lightpipe) and 3. Coaxial digital (RCA type)
The 896 offers adatlight pipe wich is not compatible with the alesis 2 channel s/p dif and it also offers a XLR AES-EBU output.
Can I hook up the AES-EBU output on the motu directly to the coaxial RCA input on the Alesis using a XLR Female to S/PDIF
( Pin 2 Hot ) cable without destroying anything. I saw this cable at www.sweetwater.com part#k2digo and was wondering if it would work.
I would love to hook this thing up digitally. Is there another way ?
Maybe using an audio interface of somekind. I just found out that the 828 has a S/P dif connection. maybe I should of purchased the 828 ?
