I'm just getting started in some small projects and have a few questions.
I've recently bought a 1010lt and I have a Mackie CFX20 I want to connect.
Is it possible to use the channel inserts on the Mackie to run into my 1010lt for multitracking? If so, what type of cable would I use? I know a typical insert cable takes one 1/4 plug into two for both a send and receive into the same channel, but I will only need to send so what type of cable should I use or will the inserts even work for this??

Yes, the inserts should work for this. It should be covered in your manual.

You'll need a 1/4" mono plug (TS) which you will only insert halfway into the Insert jack (just until you hear the first click).

The other end of the cable will be whatever you need to connect to your 1010lt.

I have the same sort of setup, I have a 1010lt connected to my 16 channel mixer, but I have only have inserts so put the plugs in half way -- they work all the way in too, but then you cut the speakers out.

What I use to connect them, is a found an 8 cabled snake (two actually, one for input, one for output) at a loca music store. One end is male RCA, the others are 1/4" jacks.

Thanks

That was pretty much what I figured would work. Guess I just needed a little reassurance from someone more knowledgable.

So then if you have it all hooked up using the inserts on channels 1-8 to the inputs of the 1010lt and channels 9-16 inputs from the 1010lt outs could you mixdown to a new track in CEP and make adjustments on the fly as to levels and what not? Would this work if in multitrack view I selected all my recorded tracks to play and a new track to record?
