I'm at my wits end on this. My wife bought a coferance room mic that has a built in amp, used a 9 V battery. She wanted me to put it at the bird feeder so she could listed to the birds while sewing, but I can't seem to get the output to anything other than a recorder. How do i get to mic to work with a speaker? I've tried running it through a mixer, and I've tried putting it into the aux input on my computer speakers. Nothing. It works great when i put it into any recording device, but we just want to listen real time. Any suggestion?

You should be able to run it through a mixer and into speakers (via an amp, or not if they are active speakers) with no problems. How did you have it configured when you tried this?

I first tried pluging iit into the aux input on my external computer speakers.
That didn't work. Then I went to Raido Shack to ask for help, and we tried running it through a mixer, then an amp and even tried puting it stright into earbuds. Nothing. The only time it seems to work is when it's in a recorder.

What connection does the mic use? XLR?
Is the 9v battery just for powering the capsule (instead of phantom power), or is there actually some form of amp/preamp built in?
