Ive purchased a new rode nt2a. Whenever i play back what i have recorded the volume of the recording goes really quiet halfway through the track or i get a squeaky noise in the recording which sounds like a cassette being fast forwarded. I sometimes get this noise in the headphones while im recording too. Ive tried combiantions of different mics and leads into the soundcard but i know its definitely the nt2a with the problems. Can anyone help?

The mic is obviously defective. If it's new, take it back.

I'll say :D..... Hey watch out for that Japanese probe that suppose to land in Australia next week Armistice!

Sounds like condensation or a bad connection between the XLR pins in the bottom of the mic and the mic cable.

Have you tried leaving it powered overnight to dry it out?

Rode have a good reputation and will replace it if it is a fault.

Cheers
Alan.

Sure have.... apparently they're landing it in the middle of the desert to prevent it ending up on eBay...

Let's hope it's not carrying alien flesh eating microbes... but if so, perhaps they can head west and visit Alan rather than east. (Not that I mean you any harm Alan!)

Ooh, need to say something about the post... agree with Alan that it does sound like a bit of a connection issue somewhere, and if you've checked the lead, which is the more obvious problem area then doing the dry out thing is a good idea... just don't put it in the oven. :D
