another NOOB question Is there any software I can get, run a mike through my computer then to the PA system to effect my voice>????? If so what kind of soundcard would I need???? and what software????? someone mentioned goldwave, but how do I go about running my mike through my PC????????????????????

Is this for live performance? Since you mention the PA, I'm guessing it is. While you could technically do this, the delay/latency of running a signal into your computer, through processing, and back out to a PA would likely be unacceptable. You'd probably be better off buying an outboard vocal processor and running it as an effects loop off your PA. What vocal effects are you looking for?
 
Mostly reverb and it's only to practice in my basement..... I have a "Peavey Messenger" system I inherited from work with no reverb and I'm looking at options for my PC to do some work for me....
 
with asio drivers you can get the latency down to 5-6 ms, unnoticable.
NIN use computers for real time guitar processing.
