I do solo recoding with my guitars, and right know I dont have a good rig going with my electric, but I have a really good acoustic (George Washburn). So far, I have bought a 400$ Condensor, Shocks, Mixer (behringer, two mic cable outlets), and a stand. I need a Y cable, which I am going to get soon, and a computer with the right software (because the behringer is not a track). I know nothing however about recording on the computer, please help. (If anyone wants to IM me, I wouldn't mind, NYDJD009)

Try some of the demo's from Cakewalk, PTLE, Cool Edit and see what you like. And think about investing in a quality audio card, not the stock card in most PC's.

Get out to the bookstore, grab a cup of coffee at the cafe and start reading.

"Computer Music" and "Music Tech" magazines have tons of articles and sections specifically targeted to help beginners. If you buy them they also have CDs every month with demos and FREE plugins, programs and samples to play with, too.

you'll need a DAW software. (like protools, cooledit, etc). Youll also need a soundcard, but itll be like:

Guitar/Amp-->Microphone-->XLR cable-->Mixer--->(y) cable-->soundcard

then you will record from the line-in. sounds confusing for the beginner, but its simple once you get the hang of it.
