Hello fellow comrades, I have a Pentium 4 in my machine, can I set it up for home recording? I have read that P4's are not good if you want to set your computer as a home recording studio.

Thanks

I'd be interested in what you have read about P4's not being good for recording. I couldn't imagine why

Greetings,

I think there is a general agreement that P4's are more expensive then P3 and athlon but are not faster on many tests.

I don't know more then that.

Chip-wise/GHz's , PIV's are cheaper.

But, you need a different power supply - motherboard depending, and the RAM is twice as much.

So, in the end it evens out in price between P4 and P3. It's close.

mauibaja, I doubt you will have many problems if you bought it recently(even if you didnt, just may need to do a bit more troubleshooting, but that's par for the course). It's typical for new products to have problems. But, the PIV isn't new anymore, just maybe not the exact choice at the moment. It changes fast. If it's doing what you need it to do at this time, run with it.

I could tell you some stuff about the P4. But you probably wouldn't want to here it.:p

Thank you all for your responses, I fell better now. I have not been able to put my computer together yet, but I'm sure I'll be needing a lot of advice. So expect threads real soon.

Thanks
