I am building a studio in my basement. i want to go digital. I have a question, should I go with a computer based system or go for the expensive ADAT systems? If computer, which is better, a Macintosh or a PC?

a Macintosh or a PC...

I've heard that Macs are more user friendly. Personally I prefer PC's because their fast, dependable, and easily fixable/upgradable.

When I recorded the CD for my band to my older computer's hard drive there was no problems at all. When I transfered and edited the recording (a 35 minute WAV) through my peer to peer network to my powerful computer it ran very fast and flawlessly.

Old comp = P 75mhz(about 4 years old)
New comp = AMD k6/2 350 (about 1 1/2 years)

PS: It only cost me $300 to get brand new, top of the line proccesor+motherboard using my old 486's parts.

I'd argue for PC for many reasons.

They're often cheaper
You have much more choice in selecting hardware and software
The vast majority here uses PC so it's easier to get answers to any questions.

As for Mac being more user-friendly than PC, I disagree. I think all computers are equally bitchy and hate humans.

However, pros tend to use Mac but I think that's a remain from when Mac was the only choice and people tend to stick to what they're used to.

Hi, Gordon.
I was discussing with other people (Ola was giving me some help) at another thread and I´d like to know from you if you´ve had problems with AMD K6-2.
