Computer Monitors!

What is the best setup for Digital Recording on the Computer!

1. 22" CRT Monitor or;
2. 2 x 17" LCD Screens

What configuration are you guys using for Digital Recording?
 
I run with dual 17" sony trinitrons... dual is great because you can spread the windows out over two screens i.e. tracks on one side and mixer on the other. I can't imagine going back to a single monitor, 22" is nice as all heck but the desk footprint is huge for a single screen.

I would love to replace these with quality LCD flatscreens one day, but it's serious cash to get decent ones and I'd just as soon spend the money on mics, pres, etc...
 
Personally I get by with a single 19" monitor on most of my systems. In bang-for-buck terms 19" inch is the way to go.

However I agree there are times that a second monitor would be very handy to have.
 
If you plan on getting a guitar/preamp/electronics gizmo anywhere near your monitor, then you definately want to go with the LCD's if you can afford them! That 22" monitor is going to throw off plenty of noise and it'll be very hard to get close to it with any analog audio device.

Not to sound TOO ignorant, but that doesn't go for analog keyboards does it?
 
If you have the space and money, bigger is always better.
 
It can have an impact on all analog devices, but it might not be too bad. I know my 19" monitor doesn't bother most of my stuff...just my guitar. In order to play guitar anywheres near the monitor (within say 6-8 feet) I have to turn perpendicular to it until I find the "sweet spot" where the noise all but disappears...then I have to try to remain in that position while tracking.

Dual Monitors is (are?) awesome...

having an extra workspace is amazingly useful

If you have one of those traveling "computer show and sale" gigs near you, you can pick up a refurb/used 17" for $60-100. I bought a Dell true flat for $125.

Go for the dual!

I only run a single monitor at the mo!

But I will def be on Dual by the end of the year!
