Hey there!
Just wondering about your thoughts on the following:
When I connect the line out of my soundcard (SB AWE 32... ancient model - huge card that runs front to back through the computer casing) to 2 inputs on my fostex FD-8 hard disk recorder I hear a pretty loud HUMMING sound.
- All equipment is connected to grounded outlets
- when I disconnect the card from the recorder the humm is gone.
- Other sources into the recorder don't produce the hum.
- The hum is audible wether I connect the FD-8 to the line- or speaker output of the soundcard
What could possibly cause this mishap? It's not a very big deal, since the only reason I want to hook this gear up like this is to listen to mp3 files through my monitors, but I wonder what's wrong?!
Thanx for your time!
Eef
