OK, this probably belongs to the newbie section, but I need some advice..
I am looking for a computer for editing audio. I would like a computer that can mixdown 24 tracks. I'm using Adobe Audition.

Can I just buy any PC or mac with good specifications? How powerful must the computer be? Is it enough with a PC with
2,5 ghz prosessor
1024 mb ram
80 gig harddisk

I'll record on a harddiskrecorder, right now I'm using Fostex VF160EX, but I plan to upgrade to a Alesis ADAT24. I have tried to mixdown on the Fostex, but it is difficult. I would really like to use a noise-gate and noise reduction, and you cant do that on a harddiskrecorder. I'm recording mostly live-concerts, and my recordings tend to have a lot of unwanted sounds.

Thanks,
Sniixer.

The spec that you show would easily be able to edit 24 tracks down. No worries there. Editing is the part you need the power really, its the recording which uses alot of power. But yeah, that spec will easily handle it, would even be ok recording tracks.
