Hi, Fellaz,

Any builders here?

Looking for a recommendation on the following for a new computer running XP for doing strictly audio...

MOBO
Processor
Hard Drives
Ram

Anyone do this in house?... i may just pass this on and let someone else build it.:)

Two questions first

Budget?
What do you need to do? (how many inputs? heavy sample use? tons of VST/VSTis? PCI audio input or USB or FIrewire?)
This has a big implication as to what makes a good audio PC for you

Bristol,

I do a mix of audio/midi, I could use 6 or so USB & 3 Firewire in's. As far as samples usually just what's bundled with your average recording software these days.

Thanks

my self built PC

I built mine with a Gigabyte mobo, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (2.33Ghz I think), 2GB Corsair RAM, and (2) Seagate Berracuda 7200rpm hard drives. I added a PCI firewire card (w/ TI chipset). I've recorded 16 tracks simultaneously using (2) Presonus Firepods and Cubase 4 Essential with no problems. It cost me about $600 to build the PC 1.5 years ago. 90% of the parts came from Newegg.

Just remember there are a lot of newer Motherboards that have no driver support for XP so take that into consideration when buying Parts....

Cheers
