WE (the band) are planning on buying a new computer ... PC not a mac... And a M-Audio Delta 410 interface. Any other suggestions with software or any other hardware?

what kind of mics are you gonna use? I would suggest a condensor mic for the vocals, maybe an audio technica 3035? its a good starter condensor mic.

Mics

Well, currently i have 2 mics. A sennheiser e609 which mics my guitar amp (Crate Mx-120r) and it also doubles as a bass drum mic. I also have a sennheiser e835 which is a overhead for the drums, both were $99 and refered by my trusted employees at guitar center. We're 16 so we really can't buy $600 mics, or anything :(. The bass goes direct in using a M-80 bass dist./direct box.

hmm well i think i paid like 200 bucks Canadian for my audio technica condensor mic, it was the best purchase i have made so for, i really like it. You will probably find a big imporvement with your recordings by using better mics. Maybe you could rent / borrow one from guitar centre to try?

as for software, if you don't plan on doing any midi work, i would suggest getting your mitts on an old copy of Adobe audition (then called cool edit pro) it is probably dirt cheap now and is a really great program for recording. Adobe audition is even better if you want to pay a bit more. If you are looking for more of a totoal package (soft synths, midi etc) i would suggest sonare 3. I like it as it works for me well. There are tonnes of opinions on which software to get but those are my favorites.

Hmm, I'll have to look into that mic! The recording programs sound good, I like the sound of sonar. I was also looking into Homestudio 2004 and Reason 2.5. I think i'm looking for a multitrack program
