Hey all, Can anyone help me with choosing a type of compressor
I am currently recording guitar and bass using mic'd up amps (SM-57), to XLR to my desktop mixer, and then into my 24-bit soundcard into Audition. I have been told that a compressor would improve my recordings but find the concept a bit overwhelming. I understand about gaining the best signal possible with minimal noise and without over-peaking.
What complicates the matter is that I eventually want to record drums as well as the guitar through the compressor, so would that require getting a compressor with two inputs or could it all go through a single input? Also if the drums had 4 mics set up to record - would that mean i'd need at least 4 XLR inputs on my compressor??
Any help appreciated. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.
Thanks in advance,
Lee
