Yesterday I bought a used DBX 266 compressor from Guitar Center for $84. I'm assuming this isnt the worlds greatest compressor by any means but I needed something cheap. Everything works fine when the compressor isnt in play (Berhinger Eurodesk 3282A into a Tascam US-122 into my Dell laptop.). But when I hooked up the compressor running the mixer line out into it and then running the compressor line outs into the US-122 I couldnt get anything to record. Any advice would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks.

Try This

I used to have a few 266xls.
They were not the best by any stretch of the imagination.
First do the obvious and make absolutely sure you have the cables in the right holes and make sure the cables are good.
Second thing I would do is put it in bypass mode (if it has it) which should allow what is coming in the inputs to come out the outputs. If THAT does not work you have problems with the unit. (must be broken)
If the bypass works then I would check the input and output knobs to make sure they are at some sort of average level. Check the section that is the noise gate (or downward expansion which ever it is called), and make sure the level is not set so high as to effectively shut off the input signal.
Thy those suggetions first, if that does'nt work get back and I'll wring my brain a little more.
