I'm sorting out my new home studio and what I should buy....yada yada...thinkin' about Sonar or Reason as my software.

My question is:

Which would have the best compressor for vocals and distorted guitar- Sonar, Reason, or spend $100-$150 on a compression rack piece?

Thanks

sonar 6 producer has an excellent compressor, Waaaaaay better than a $150 rack unit. It's called VC64. Well worth the extra bucks to have it included.
It is a kick ass channel strip that can be set up tons of different ways.

Seein' how this IS the Cakewalk forum......I think we can all agree Sonar has a better product. You can't really buy any vocal compressor worth a nickle for $150. Software compressors are power hungry and not capable (yet) of matching a great hardware unit, but those of us on a home recording budget make do.

Do new Caker's get to get in on the Timeworks comp? That's another great one.
