Hi Guys,

I am using Adobe Audition 1.5 on my PC for recording.
When tracking my vocals, is it a good idea to use a compressor on the way in (while I'm recording) or should I just sing without compression and add the compression after?

The vocals get quite loud in some parts, and very quiet in others.

Much appreciated!

A lot of people compress while tracking, but to do this in CEP you will need an outboard compressor. You can only use the plugins once you have recorded a track.

Truthfully, it's what ever you prefer to do.

As long as you don't peak the mic while tracking vocals, adding compression through AA is virtually the same as running them through an outboard while tracking.

Just don't use the presets, none of them are perfect.
