i've tried lots...

i am running sonar 7 with a lexicon omega. I have a midi controller connected and a mic also. when in sonar i'm getting a signal but no sound is coming out of my speakers. This is for midi only. When i tap the mic, i get a sound out the speakers but no signal! totally confused and tried downloading new drivers etc but can't seem to get anything. When i go into a seperate program to try the midi i get sound (albeit with a delay). Where am i going wrong? it must be something to do with my computer setup.

Any help would be massively appreciated before i lose all my hair!

thanks in advance

Joe

Your problems are not likely to stem from drivers, and most likely to arise from how Sonar is set up.

These are things you need to look for.

Within Sonar, check for devices and where you can configure them. They need to be set to the Lexicon for audio inputs. If you are monitoring through the Lexicon (which is probably the best way to go), then you need to send the outputs here as well.

You also need to look for Midi devices in Sonar. Again, you will use the Lexicon as input if you are using it as a midi interface. If the midi controller is going direct to the PC via USB, then this is what you select in Sonar.

For midi output, it sounds like, for your other program, your midi is going to your internal soundcard (hence the delay). This is also where you can send the Sonar midi output (but you are likely to get delay here as well). To avoid this latency, think about using VSTi instruments within Sonar, or get hold of an external sound library.
