Hi all,

Good to have found you and really looking forward to some advice.

I'm looking for my first digital portastudio. I am completely new to recording so it has to accommodate ease of use as I don't want masteringe, th technology to detract from playing the music!

That said in obviously willing to put in th entire to learn. The studio. Will be used to lay down some jazz guitar rhythms over lad with bass and solo guitar. It needs to have good built in micsnas I really don't want to fork out on any peripherals. A good range of drum presets would be good, and an in but guitar processor with some nice clean settings would be ideal, as would tuner and metronome.

The zoom r8 seems a nice piece of kit although I have heard it's not the easiest to use, and the tascam dp08 also looks good.

Any advice would be so appreciated.

Cheers, Stuart :)

Also check out the Boss BR800. The built-in mics in ANY self-contained recorder are going to be your limiting factor.

Hi mike thanks for the response. What would you go for out of the boss you recommend , he zoom r8 or the tascam dp008?

Stu

People here are happy with their Zoom recorders. I have the BR800 predecessor, the BR600, which really helped me get started with recording. Look at the features each has, and the overall pricing. I don't think you can really go "wrong" with any of them.
