Mothers Bad Son

I lost the room I was using for a home studio when my daughter moved back in with me (!!!!!)and with a heart bypass the end of last year I haven't been into recording much lately. I wrote this tune in 2009 and recorded it but I was never happy with it even though it had some limited commercial success. I still have the rights for it so I thought I would strip it down and start from scratch with fresh ears and a new perspective. If anyone cares to give it a listen and comment on it that would be cool.

The old version is still the video soundtrack under "video" on my page. I like the new one much better but people liked the old version to. Any comments would be appreciated, I think the new version is some of my best work to date but then that's just me.

OK...let's get one thing straight: the hot babe in the picture ought to be wearin' a Stetson and be pointin' a hogleg wheelgun. A cowboy in Seattle?? I feel your pain.:eek:

Nice song and recording. No nits. Except a kind of 'phasey' , 'warbly' wash over the track...might be my ear fatigue...or compression artifact. I'll try again later...
 
Nice song, it's got a real nice feel. I think the vocals are a little too far out front and maybe a bit much of that verb, but thats just opinion. And yeah when the drums kick in that high hat sound is not helping things, i'd mess with vol/eq on the hats to get them sounding more real or fade them down so they're not such a nuisance. Enjoyed the tune man!
