wont bore you with the long story as to why this comparison but if you could have one or the other:

How would you compare:

VTB1 and a RNC

With----

A Joe Meek vc1q

One would give you one channel, while the other would give you two.

One would give you mostly VCA-type / transparent compression, while the other would give you opto compression (slower, more obvious-sounding).
