Hello
I've recently moved house, and thought that i would go more serious with my music production, which is mainly trance/dance stuff that i make. As i allready had a soundcard, two synthesizers, a mixer i thought my next step would be some quality studio monitors, as what i used before is a pair of sennheiser HD 650 headphones and some crappy 2.1 PC speakers.
I went in 2 different stores near me to get a listen to some monitors, the first place suggested me Dynaudio BM5a, as just the one and only i should get in my budget. The next place i went, i was suggested some KRK, and Adam A7. By that time i clearly preffered the Adam A7, but didn't hear them with something i knew, as i forgot to bring music
I got home and did some research on different monitors, and it stood pretty clear that i should take the Adam A7, though as i returned to the second shop to allmost buy them i listened the some KRK RP-8 G2 speakers, which were like 150 bucks cheaper and sounded nearly as awesome. I couldnt really compare them in the room. The kind seller allowed me to borrow both the KRK and Adam A7, which was really great.
And here the dilemma really began for me, I really do like the sound of the KRK, and it brings a deeper low end, which is great for the genre that im making - Although i doubt its accuracy, the bass gets too loud in some places, as where it shouldn't though.
I do know, that the Adam A7 is a great monitor, no doubt, and i really like it, but the low end is a bit thin imo, and even worse i cant seem to hit the sweet spot with them, got it few times and they do sound awesome, but i think they are perhaps just too flat for me?
The thing is, that i would like to use them as much as for pleassure listening than mixing, im a bit like, if i chose the Adams, i might be a bit sad about the sound when pleassure listening, but chosing the KRK i might feel a bit like i just threw some quality out of the window, i might be lacking accuracy when mixing, but might enjoy pleassure listening more. Not really sure what to chose.
I know that i can't get you to decide, really. But perhaps help me on the way ?
What would you do if you stood in my situation. What speaker could you eventually suggest the most?
Thanks for reading and hopeful i can get this dilemma sorted, as i soon have to deliver the speakers back
