Hi,
I'm new to the forum. I have been reading it a lot and decided that the memebers on here give some really good advice.

I have an MR8 and have not used it much. I plan to start using it quite a lot.

I have the standard flash card that came with the unit. I have messed around a bit and found that I run out of space fast.

Bottom line: What is the best size flashcard and brand. I would also like too know where to buy what I need.

Thanks, Doc G

I think the fostex site gives a list of compatible cards. Also if you are not using the "delete unused" function you are not freeing up the space that you could be.
The software updates also allow you to use more types of cards.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the tip on the delete unused. I haven't been doing this. Do most MR8 owners use a 512 card? I've seen a lot of postings about cards and types. I have also read the website on compatable cards and I get more confused about what I need. Is 256 a lot of space or should I just plan on the 512? I really have no idea. Thanks for the help?

Maybe someone else will have some input on this question. I haven't had experience with anything except the 128mb card. I use my MR8 in conjunction with my pc which makes CF card size not an issue.

Please take the time to explain the statement that " I work with the MR8 and my computer, so the CF card size doesn't matter." This is what bothers me the most about buying a MR8.
$300 for the unit and another $150 or so for the right 512 card. that's $450 and I can get a VF80 for $499 with a Hard Drive.

Your answer could make a big difference to me in my decision. I want to record sequences I've done with my keyboard with left and right outputs in stereo. No problem they record perfect the first time.

Then I want to record my tenor sax playing and of course either record a couple of tracks to cut and paste or to use punch-in, punch-out to correct mistakes.

most people, me included, will only record a few tracks, then send them to the computer, then record more tracks, send them to the computer and so on. after that, i use n track ( www.fasoft.com ) to arrange and mix the tracks. this way, i dont really need this much space, because once it is on the computer, i can delete it

there, that should help

try Yahoo shopping

I got a ridata 512 from mypcmax.com for $130. with s/h Go to yahoo shopping or some other shopbot and run a search to find the cheapest. Also as someone else said, go to the fostex.com site to get the list of compatable compactflash cards. Ridata is a 52 times speed card and works perfectly for me.

good cf cards

somewhere on this site there is a thread with a ton of pages on it, users have tried about all the cards you can think of, and posted their comments, do a search and you should get quite a list....

i think there are some links and prices mentioned also

You can get cf card time back on your 128 by using the Delete/Unused option in the Song menu on the MR8.
